Promise Mascot Agency is a chore game. You spend the bulk of the adventure driving around an open world, running errands, and fetching items.

Promise Mascots are their own species, NOT people walking around in costume suits, so you'll get answers to questions you never wanted to know about these mascots. You'd think framing a somewhat serious yakuza storyline around this would go together like toothpaste and orange juice, but it works surprisingly well. The game will treat the hopes, fears, and desires of the mascot characters as seriously as it does with the humans, and it just works. Secondly, the gameplay itself. While there is a bit of a learning curve at the beginning of the game, such as knowing what perks to give your workers, when to progress the story, or what purchases are the smartest in the early game, once you graduate from the learning stage, you should find the management elements quite addicting. The truck controls are a bit much (however, the car you drive is canonically a piece of crap, so I think this was somewhat intentional?), but not unexpectedly, and controlling the car is a lot more fun when you find the upgrades for it. What I was surprised with was that it kept throwing more at me the more I played, but it never felt overwhelming. So long as you don't rush yourself, you'll find that the game is quite good at easing you into new moneymaking tasks and mechanics.
